Trip Overview

Experience Raja Ampat in its most complete form on this extended snorkeling journey combining two of our most exciting Indonesia programs: a resort-based stay at Papua Explorers, followed by an expedition-style liveaboard through Misool, Wayag, Penemu, and the Dampier Strait.

During this exclusive trip for snorkelers, you will spend much of your time snorkeling coral reefs teeming with fish life and visiting special locations that offer excellent chances of encounters with manta rays.

Highlights

Raja Ampat is home to the richest coral reef ecosystems with the highest concentration of marine and coral species on the planet. The local biodiversity includes 1400 species of reef fish, with over 100 endemic species, and large populations of reef sharks, mantas, and sea turtles. This extended trip, which allows for a deep exploration of Raja Ampat, offers unmatched opportunities (minimum 40 guided snorkels) to spot the unique sea life of the area.
Raja Ampat offers prime conditions for manta encounters. These majestic giants have a peaceful presence that leaves a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to share the sea with them. We will visit several locations in the archipelago where this encounter often unfolds.
During the first part of the trip, we will stay at Papua Explorers, a unique eco-resort in Raja Ampat. All bungalows, the restaurant, and the dive center have been constructed overwater and offer wonderful views of the house reef. Each bungalow has a stairway straight to the ocean on the veranda.
For the second part of the trip, we will will explore the region aboard the Seahorse, a 16-passenger luxury liveaboard designed for underwater exploration. This fully chartered snorkeling liveaboard will allow us to reach some of Raja Ampat’s most iconic and remote marine areas. The Seahorse offers 8 comfortable cabins, all equipped with individually controlled air conditioning.

This trip combines a resort-based stay at Papua Explorers and a snorkeling liveaboard on the MSY Seahorse. We will spend 7 nights at the resort and 11 nights on the Seahorse.

Papua Explorers Resort

During the first part of the trip, we will stay at the Papua Explorers Resort. Surrounded by crystal clear waters and pristine reefs, the Papua Explorers Dive Resort is a stunning base from which to snorkel Raja Ampat’s premier sites. All bungalows, the restaurant, and the dive center have been constructed overwater and offer wonderful views of the house reef.

All accommodations for this trip are Deluxe Water Bungalows.

Deluxe Water Bungalows are very spacious (72 square meters) and are built on the water. The sunloungers and a hammock on the veranda invite you to linger and admire the breathtaking sunsets of Raja Ampat. A stairway straight into the ocean makes it easy to explore the house reef.

Deluxe Water Bungalows are equipped with en-suite toilet and shower, hot water, ceiling fan, mosquito net, working desk, as well as a comfortable seating area. They can be arranged with one double bed or twin beds.

The MSY Seahorse

During the second part of the trip, we will explore Raja Ampat aboard the Seahorse, a custom-built liveaboard designed for diving and snorkeling that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern amenities.

There are 8 comfortable cabins on board, all equipped with individually controlled air conditioning. Each cabin has a private bathroom with a separate toilet and hot shower, and ample storage for personal belongings.

There are two Seaview Cabins with a double bed on the Upper Deck (cabins 7 and 8), one cabin with a double bed on the Lower Deck (cabin 6), and five cabins with twin beds on the Lower Deck (cabins 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) – See deck map below.

Cost Includes

Your guides, your tour leader, and all snorkeling activities throughout the trip (minimum 40 guided snorkels).
7 nights at the Papua Explorers Resort from 27 February to 5 March 2028, 11 nights on the Seahorse from 6 to 17 March 2028, and 2 nights in Sorong on 26 February and 5 March 2028.
Raja Ampat Marine Park entrance fees
All meals, drinking water, coffee and tea throughout the trip, plus snacks and soft drinks on the Seahorse (except lunch on 5 March 2028).

Please note that this extended itinerary combines two separate Raja Ampat trips. As both programs include the Dampier Strait (where Papua Explorers is located), some snorkeling locations in this area may be visited more than once; this is not a drawback, as conditions, visibility, currents, light, and marine life encounters can vary greatly from one day to another, often making a second visit feel like a completely different experience.
